For my personal note<br />
<br /><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: x-small;">sudo make menuconfig<br />sudo make<br />sudo make modules_install install</span><br />
Then reboot<br />
<br />
Optional:<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: x-small;">sudo grub2-set-default 2<br />sudo grub2-editenv list<br />sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg<br /></span>0xffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11282323362186270236noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1875865281844656599.post-74144359026940380232012-12-29T04:29:00.003-08:002012-12-29T04:29:42.091-08:00How to use PackageKit in FedoraSince I moved from Ubuntu, I somehow found it inconvenient for me to experience the transition. For example, when I did yum operation, the command line triggered PackageKit locked my operation. So I googled a bit on PackageKit.. not much being written/help.<br />
<br />
I found this <a href="http://www.hughsie.com/public/introduction-to-packagekit.pdf">PDF</a> and tried some of the operations:<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">najmi@fedora:~$ pkcon get-updates</span><br />

Then, let say I want to install "Gimp"</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">najmi@fedora:~$ sudo pkcon install gimp</span></div>

I highlight few points that I feel important only:<br />
<br />
For 64 bit:<br />
<br />
Create <em>/etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo</em> file:<br />
<br />
<pre class="bash" style="color: black;">[google-chrome]
name=google-chrome - 64-bit
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub</pre>
<pre class="bash" style="color: black;"> </pre>
<pre class="bash" style="color: black;"> </pre>
To install stable version:<br />
<pre class="bash" style="color: black;"> </pre>
<pre class="bash" style="color: black;"><span style="color: black; font-weight: bold;">sudo yum install</span><span style="color: black;"> google-chrome-stable </span></pre>
